Our first home match this season was lost last night. We were humbled if
not humiliated but resolved to do better in future (or was that the post-match
beers talking?). The problem is our batting which I am sure we can put right
with a bit more practice. Certainly we fielded well and looked like a proper
cricket team for a while, but we were always up against it given we only
managed 40 runs between us, thanks to a double figure contribution from Jon
Shanklin. Keep those contact lenses in Jon, you know it makes sense!
In spite of some good bowling from Simon and Bruce, and tidy keeping
from Iain it only took NAPP 7 overs to secure the win with 7 wickets in
hand. Ok, so I know this cricket
nonsense it's just a bit of fun, but is also important that we try to be
competitive, as we were all through last season when we had lots of close and
really enjoyable games.
