Cricket Venues

Churchill: A bit obvious this one! Now our home ground.  Cyclists can access it through the Observatory grounds, but don't cycle on the sports field as the groundsman doesn't like it. Alternatively go down Storey's Way, past the college and turn left. There is parking behind the pavilion.

Bluntisham:  A long way away in Huntingdonshire!.  20km north west of Cambridge.

Cass Centre:  The CUP ground.  It is off Shaftesbury Road, which is off Brooklands Avenue between Hills Road and Trumpington Road.

Clare College: The Clare college ground is the one you see just after the CUP building on the train to London. To get to it go along Trumpington Road and turn left down Bentley Road (about half way between Long Road and Brooklands Avenue). Carry on to the end of the road, across Hobson's Brook and the ground is on the right. For those on bikes there is a pleasant (but sometimes muddy) track along Hobson's Brook, which begins at the corner of Trumpington Road and Brooklands Avenue.

Comberton Rec: From BAS use the new cycle path up Madingley Hill.  At the roundabout take the Comberton/Hardwick road and turn left to Comberton.   Once you get to Comberton turn right and the ground is the 3rd track/road on the right (600m approx from the turn), just before Green End Road.  See multimap for more details, however this doesn't show the rec.

Fenners: The Fenners ground is accessed off Mortimer Road (off the top end of Mill Road), or from Gresham Road (starts near the crossing at the south end of Parkers Piece).  The Cricket Ground is marked as number 38 on the University Map.  Access to the Indoor Cricket School is via the Lawn Tennis Club on Gresham Road NOT via the Fenner's Cricket Ground.  The entrance is the green door between St Pauls Road and Glisson Road.  Pay and Display parking is available on Gresham Road from 9am-5pm after which time it becomes free; Gresham Road can be accessed from Hills Road and cyclists can also access it by the crossing on Gonville Place. The  Cricket School is number 32 on the University Map.

Fitz(william): The ground is roughly half way down Oxford Road, on the left hand side.  From BAS cycle through the Observatories and up Storey's Way.  Turn right at Huntingdon Road and second left is Oxford Road.  Motorists can either go all the way along Storey's Way or if you don't like the traffic calming use Lady Margaret Road and Mt Pleasant.

Girton: Our home ground was Girton College. From BAS cycle up the Institute of Astronomy drive past Madingley Rise, round the University Farm and along the track to Huntingdon Road.  Cycles should take the Girton village road and either take the track on the right after the side entrance on the left (which has access control for vehicles) or continue down the road a short way and take the gravelled path on the left.  Cars must enter from Huntingdon Road, using the entrance on the right after Emily Davies Court (which is the normal conference entrance).  This is the last turn on the right heading out of Cambridge before the A14, so don't miss it! (Note that the main entrance is adjacent to a small traffic Island so look for the next building on the right after this). Once on the College grounds, follow the drive round past Ash Court and turn left where it says "Swimming Pool" on the  Girton College map. You are now on the gravel track leading directly to the cricket pitch. A pavilion was constructed during the winter of 2012/13 and was in use from the 2013 season.

Granta Park:  A long way out of town!  Take the A1307 (Hills Road), past Wandlebury to the Four Went Ways roundabout.  Cross the roundabout and turn right after about 400m.  Continue round the next roundabout (where the petrol station is) and turn into Granta Park at the roundabout after about 1km.  Ask the security guard for directions - parking is on the right, though if we are playing Medimmune we can probably use their spaces which are on the left, roughly in the middle of the block of car parking.

Girton Rec: The ground is off the road into Girton (from Huntingdon road).  It is on the r/h side, about 500 m after the A14 road bridge and about 200 m before the road turns 90 deg left in the center of the village.  Postcode is CB3 0FH

Histon Rec: Near the home of Histon FC, the Glassworld Stadium  which is at Bridge Road, Impington, Cambridge, CB24 9PH or the Rec is at 12 New Road CB24 9LU.  From Cambridge go over the railway (guided bus) bridge and take the first right (New Road), then turn right into the Rec.

Leys School: The ground is on Trumpington Road, roughly opposite Bateman St (ie on the right heading out of town, just after the Fen Causeway mini roundabout). You are advised to change before the game, as on site facilities are limited.

Leys School (Latham Road): Leys 2nd eleven ground. This is first on the right off Trumpington Road after the Brooklands Avenue traffic lights. The ground is probably on the left hand side of Latham Road.

Manor Community College: Arbury Road, CB4 2JB.  From Milton Road turn down Arbury Road and go about 600m distance and the College is on the right.  Go into the car park (lots of spaces for those driving) and then go round the back of the buildings through the doors to the fields and nets behind.  It will be obvious when you get there.

Parker's Piece:  The big area of green by the Fire Station.  It used to have half a dozen pitches, but now only has one.

Pembroke: Cycle down Grange Road to Barton Road. Carry on (nearly) straight across, then second right along Selwyn Road and left at the end into Grantchester Road. Motorists will find it more convenient to turn right along Barton Road, then left down Grantchester Road. The Pembroke ground is the second on the left.

St Catherine's: Assuming people are coming from BAS along Grange Road, carry straight on when you come to Barton Road. This should be King's Road and the ground is at the end on the left. If this turns out to be non accessible for motorists you'll need to go back along Barton Rd towards town and turn right where the road bends sharp left. Continue down Grantchester St and right into Grantchester Meadows. The ground is either at the end or turn right into South Green Rd before the end.

Trinity Hall: The ground lies between Storey's Way and Huntingdon Road.  For cyclists go up Madingley Rise, round the back of the Observatories and right down Storey's Way.  Alternatively continue down Madingley Road past Churchill and up Storey's way.  The ground used to be open access, but is now gated.  There is also a gate on Huntingdon Road.

Waterbeach:  First stop from Cambridge on the train to Kings Lynn!
