yaben ([cp c] Free drift to test restarting ; 4.5)
- Start time: 2000/12/1, length: 10/0/3
- Processors: 1 * 2, Exec name: $RUNID.exe; Timestep (mins): 30 (atmos); 60 (ocean)
- Start dumps: $DUMPS/xahiya.da00c10
- Fortran mods
- Diags
- Userprestash files
- Status: [running]
- See-also: o - ocean drift
- Notes:
- Exists as 32- and 64-bit. Don't get confused.
- 32-bit ran out 10 years on 2002/06/14. CRUN'd for 100y.
- 32-bit problems [16/06/2002] traced to failure to add blokinit mod for some odd reason... then find tracer mod not in either. Oops. But of course it *must* have been present earlier or it would have crashed.
- History: yaben -> c -> a -> yabad -> a -> yaauo -> n -> yaasc -> yaaoa
Purpose of Run (long)
Originally to test restarting at 64-bit, which it does OK. Also CRUNs OK, reproducibly.
Now a control for free-drift.
Caution this run has (by accident) increasing GHGs. See yabeo/verify.html.
When run at 32-bit it originally failed:
- In tracer, in a diag calc: use omit-tracer-calc.upd to solve this.
- More obscurely, in blokinit, there was a JMT for a JMTm1: use blokinit.upd to fix this.
Results
At 32 bit, when restarted, I found that it died after a while (a long while: yabena.dak8790) with an FPE
error which it eventually said was in ICEFREED. But when compiled with -g it
disappears (well, it no longer bit-compares on restart). Ditto with extra print
statements. So I couldn't track it down and said "oh sod it".
See verify.
